Recorded in tribute to the late, great Merle Haggard, MISERY AND GIN features a duo of covers from the iconic outlaw country legend's catalog, the gender-bent brawler "Gonna Break Every Heart I Can" as well as the titular bawler "Misery and Gin" (featuring a lush orchestral arrangement that pays homage to the classic country ballads of the 1970s.) The EP is equally timeless as it is true to the Heathens' unique aesthetic that has been crafted since the release of their debut album BOOT HILL HYMNAL.

No Heathen Apostles album would be complete without a jab at convention- to this effect, MISERY AND GIN contains an off-the-wall remix of "Gonna Break Every Heart I Can" by New York sonic mixologist Almighty Watching. The EP is expertly produced by Chopper Franklin and mastered by punk bastion Geza X.

about

Heathen Apostles Los Angeles, California

"If there is such a thing in the current fringe roots genre as a supergroup, it would certainly be the Los Angeles-based dark roots and gothic country band Heathen Apostles, who includes ex-members of Radio Noir (Mather Louth), The Cramps (Chopper Franklin), Kings of Nuthin’ (Thomas Lorioux) in its ranks. That is one hell of a lineup." - No Depression Magazine ... more
